Everyone knows that Paris is the City of Love, but romance also abounds in our own beloved Holy City. From wedding venues on the Lowcountry waterfront, to pastel-colored homes and elegant cafes, Charleston is the perfect place for love to blossom.
Holy City Hospitality’s own 39 Rue de Jean recently had the honor of partnering with a host of talented vendors for a styled proposal shoot. The shoot actually took place over the entire day at multiple locations, but the day began at Rue, when models Jay and Caroline arrived early morning with photographers to create something beautiful over brunch.
For the 39 Rue de Jean restaurant team, our part to play came naturally; serving up the best french déjeuner in downtown Charleston and embracing the picturesque romantic vibe our location embodies. Hannah Alyssa, the photographer, arranged the couple at our patio dining area. While we partnered with Patrick Properties to furnish a classic array of brunch treats, Jay and Caroline supplied the storyline of a couple in love. As they sipped on cappuccinos and munched on warm croissants, we were definitely getting major Parisian cafe vibes.
Using the images from the shoot, Abby Larson of Style Me Pretty, A style savvy wedding resource devoted to the modern bride’s journey down the altar, wrote a comprehensive breakdown outlining the most romantic proposal strategies. Of her nine guidelines, our favorite has to be the fourth: “Plan a luxurious dinner set for 2.” Aside from having the outdoor dining space that is so integral to a downtown Charleston restaurant, we also like to think that our French-inspired cuisine and inviting romantic atmosphere are the qualities that Abby had in mind when writing.
